Welcome to our online course platform
GatewayCrafts is an Erasmus+ project proposed by Saber Fazer, with CRU Creative Hub and Materahub as partners.
This project consists of preparing pilots to facilitate access to technical knowledge in small-scale manufacturing and artisan work.
The learning strategy that will be studied will combine more conventional elements of distance learning, such as the online courses you see on this platform, with others developed and adapted for a social learning logic and more informal learning on social media.
Online course
Flax to Linen,
Seed to Fibre.
This is our online course "Flax to Linen, Seed to Fibre", where we will teach you to grow and process your linen fibre!
Linen is a natural textile fibre that has been grown and used by humans for thousands of years. Still, in recent decades, the knowledge of producing this fibre on a sustainable smaller scale has slowly diminished and almost disappeared.
By creating this course, we hope to make this knowledge accessible again to a new generation. In it, you'll find comprehensive guides, step-by-step instructions, and videos of the entire process.
From selecting flax varieties to cultivating and harvesting, our step-by-step guides will teach you to grow and process flax to linen in your farm, backyard or community garden.

Online course
Introduction to handspinning
Fibre spinning is an ancient technique that allows us to transform fibres into yarn.
It is one of the oldest technologies developed by humankind and has played a crucial role in our development.
In this course, we will teach you to spin your yarn using a spindle, a tool used for thousands of years to create yarn that many of us still use today. Although you may not need to hand spin to make your clothes and textiles nowadays, you will find that there is power and pleasure in the simple craft of hand spinning your yarn.
From understanding the principles of fibre-spinning to mastering the balance between fibre and spindle, our online course is meant to empower you to create your own yarn from an array of fibres and fuel your creative projects.
